nix V has been awarded an expansion team in Seattle.
Expansion rules:
24 years old and under will be exempt from selection but keep in mind players will age 1 year before the draft. (must be 23 now to be exempt)
Teams can protect 7 forwards, 3 defensemen, and a goalie
OR
8 skaters and a goalie.
All teams MUST expose a minimum of 2 forwards and 1 defenseman that has played at least 40 pro games in 2007-08 and are under contract for 2008-09 (or rfa).
After the trade deadline has passed teams are welcome to start negotiating arrangements with the expansion GM but cannot post until the actual expansion draft.
The expansion club will be awarded three guaranteed resign.
Following the playoffs we will announce draft lottery winners, retirements and release rerates. Then we will move directly into the selection process. Any expansion team trades will be posted on the forum with the expansion selections. These posts will be made in any order Marnix chooses. Any posts made including any assets besides the selection will need to be confirmed by the other team.
Seattle will not be eligible for the entry draft lottery but will be guaranteed the #6 overall selection.
Prospects will not be part of the expansion draft regardless of age.
Ufas that teams wish to use a guaranteed resign on will need to be protected, all ufas are eligible to be drafted and Seattle has 3 guaranteed resigns to use.
