Despite his age he finished only 2 points from second amongst all defensemen, led his team with a +24 rating and had his best season since season six. His speed and strength were already relatively low so it shouldn't be required for them to decline further and his skills are obviously intact so his performance stats should have remained as well

Hi Anaheim,
While I appreciate your argument, due to his age, non performance stats such as speed, strength and skating will continue to decrease. His skills only remain intact due to his performance, because a threat is still a threat, but with the aging process muscle mass and density will decrease, power and explosiveness harder to maintain and overall physicality will drop. This is just the fact of life until we all go the way of Kansas Dust In The Wind... all we are is dust in the wind
