Vegas End of Season Report
Well, to so that the ending of the Vegas Golden Knights season was frustrating, is an understatement. There are not enough words to describe the level of disappointment we are feeling right now. After showing some real progress at the beginning of the season, it seemed that no matter what was done and what changes were made, the wheels fell off right around the trade deadline.
Without being able to acquire a certified goal scorer, we were unable to overcome other teams’ ability to shut down are forwards. The defense did an admirable job this season, only allowing 223 goals (8 more than last season), but our forward group needs to be refocused on the reason they are paid. We were unable to increase our goal scoring last season when we had 225 goals for. This season’s drop by 10 resulted in a staggering 12 ties and an OTL. Those extra 10 goals were the difference in making the playoffs and hanging out on the golf course, which is where I’m headed for as soon as possible.
The offseason is now in full view, and we need to figure out where we stand. We have a few UFAs to sign and a couple RFAs (at least we have 2 GSigns). But the uncertainty of some players future in the WTHFL, will make visualizing the next couple of seasons rosters difficult. We have 3 new players joining the league and with any luck they will be decently created. And with another season of development under their belts, big things are expected of Adam Henrique, Ryan O’Reilly and Logan Couture next season. The salary cap is another issue, creating some headaches as we will need to move money out if we want to bring in a goal scorer.
All in all, we are prepared to do whatever it takes to get this team to the playoffs and vie for a Stanley Cup Championship.
Good Luck to all those who are in the Dance, except Anaheim or Phoenix,
