Another season has come and gone, while teams have emerged as legit contenders and threats, only one team can take it all and be our Stanley Cup Champions raising their Banner, claiming bragging rights, and getting their colors on our website. (Thank god were getting rid of those Ugly kings colors;)..)
Whether it was Teams like The Winnipeg Jets, Washington Capitals, Buffalo Sabres , Chicago Blackhawks who are starting to build their Dynasty and becoming threats. Constant championship threats like La, St louis, Vancouver, or Seattle. Or even teams who should have never been there in the first place like Anaheim, only one team who made playoffs was able to take it all
Despite having a Major Overhaul this season, many thought Boston was a write off, well were we ever wrong. Boston has been a playoff bracket buster and has surprised us all. With Vancouver taking almost 1/3 of brackets to win it, and being such a dominant force the odds were stacked against Boston. With a powerhouse offense of Jarome Iginla , Steven Stamkos, Alex Ovechkin, and David Legwand Brent Johnson and his defense had what seemed like an impossible task.
Game 1 puck drop, Boston for sure had the jitters but they held their own, taking the juggernaut to overtime Brent Johnson standing on his head and shutting down Vancouver's offense. Unfortunately for Boston Ryan Clowe ate his wheaties that day and was determined to take over, with Vancouver sneaking past Boston in Overtime game 1.
That night in the Locker Room rumour has it Brent Johnson held a closed door meeting. No one really knows what was said, however promises of a massive party if they turned things around have been mentioned. With Boston being a team full a Degenerates, it clearly worked and decided to take over from Game 2 onward.
Although they were close Boston took the next four games and have Won the Stanley cup, showing us all that we can not ever rule out Gm Sean again. With most of his big guns signed for at least next year Boston is Definity in good shape to run it back. That is unless someone finally figures out Conn Smyth candidate and all Star Goalie Brent Johnson
Congrats to the Vancouver Canucks for an incredible season and to our stanley cup Champions the Boston Bruins
